Everything worked really well. Considering the extreme weather we had in June, 161mm of rain, almost 4 times our long term average the cuttings did really well.

I am really pleased with the way everything is doing.

It appeared earlier in the week that Spring was here but winter has returned. I don't know if I will get flowers from the vygies this year but they have settled nicely.

It was also nice that everything was named. So often one gets vygies but they have no names. So that was a plus.

I will be ordering in October again.

I thought your service was excellent and that you went the extra mile when I had issues with online payment. The cuttings were generous too.

Good day to all the Plant Shop Africa clients and green fingered people. I would like to give a review.

I found that Plant Shop Africa, and especially Jethro Burnett Thorburn, provided a great, friendly, and efficient service.

I purchased a number of succulents and cuttings and they are all doing well. I was able to achieve 100 percent growth and survival of all cuttings.

I also requested some advice with growing and caring for my cuttings which Mr Thorburn was able to provide.

Jethro's cuttings have transformed my garden.

Reasonably priced and freshly cut, his plants make for easy gardening!

I have bought more than 100 cuttings from Jethro and every one of them is thriving in my gardens!

What is a plant cutting?

A plant cutting is a piece of a plant (usually a stem or leaf) that is removed from a mature plant by cutting it with scissors, a knife, or any other suitable sharp object.

Each product page on our website shows the type of cutting you will receive upon purchase, such as the example above (Crassula ovata 'Botany bay').

How to grow a plant from a cutting?

All one needs to do is stick the cutting into some soil and keep it moist.

If the conditions are suitable (sunny and moist), the cutting will grow new roots from the area where it was cut or from other growth points along the stem.

Eventually the cutting will grow into a new plant that is genetically identical to the parent.

For example: The plant above is a Crassula ovata 'Botany bay' which was grown from a cutting.

► By their nature our succulents & indigenous plants are easy to grow from cuttings. This is a big reason why these plants are so popular.

What is a cutting?

So we choose to pack them carefully and send them to you this way (and in fact, this is common practice amongst the leading succulent shops around the world).

This also saves you a lot of money! ☺
